Position: Laser Operator
Reports to: Departmental Supervisor

Position Mission: Sets up and operates CNC laser and/or plasma cutting machines daily. Assists other operators with tasks and provides support in resolving operational issues as needed
Compensation: $17.00 – $26.00/ hr.
$1.50/hour shift differential for second and third shifts.
Revision Level: R1 (3.26.2025)
Essential Roles and Responsibilities Overview:
- Operate the CNC laser cutting machine and other machinery used in the production process or assist other machine operators.
- Select and set up lenses based on material type and thickness, load programs and set machine parameters to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
- Knowledge about shield gases used during laser cutting operation.
- Monitor fill level of bulk tank system and report reordering levels to the supervisor.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with fast-changing priorities.
- Work with automated storage system.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.
- Follow all company rules and policies.
- Follow all safety rules and quality standards.
- Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Assemble items as instructed by shift leader or floor supervisor.
- Prepare product for shipment.
- Lift raw materials, final products, and items packed for shipment, manually, or using hoist.
- Operate machinery used in the production process or assist machine operators.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of experience with Trumpf, Amada, or similar CNC laser cutting equipment.
- Strong physical dexterity, basic math skills, and the ability to lift to 50 pounds.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to distinguish between different material types, including Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel, Copper, and Brass.
- Knowledge of basic measurement tools, such as tape measures, Vernier calipers, and micrometers.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic blueprint reading skills are preferred.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
- Proven skills in measurement and fraction/decimal conversion.
